Kazakhstan team wins President’s Cup

Kazakhstan team wins President's CupTraditional football tournament among youth teams for the RK President Cup has taken place in Astana.

For a week the national teams of Kazakhstan, Iran, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, China, and the Botafogo team of Rio de Janeiro contested the trophy of the international championship. The Kazakh team won, first on the national football record, in a close game with last year’s winners of the Cup – Iran’s national team – at the 1:0 score.

The victory to Kazakhstan team was brought by the midfielder of Almaty “Kairat” team Maxim Kotov, who had outplayed the guest team’s goal keeper eight minutes before the end of the final match. Thus, the Iranians got silver, and the Lithuanian team, who defeated the team of Azerbaijan with the score 2:1, was third.

The best players in the tournament were named: goalkeeper Oleg Grubov (Kazakhstan); defender Richardas Shveykauskas (Lithuania); midfielder Roman Huseynov (Azerbaijan), the Iranian forwards Vahid Aftari Nima Mokhtari. Vladislav Vassiliev, Kazakhstan, was named best player of the Cup.
