Air Astana launches new Astana to Orenburg service

Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s Skytrax award winning carrier launched a new nonstop flight from Astana to Orenburg in southern Russia today. The new service will connect Kazakhstan’s capital with one of the major cities of the south Ural region on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The two hours flight will be operated on Embraer E-190 in a two class, 97 seat configuration.
“The new service between Kazakhstan’s capital and Orenburg will allow the largest Kazakh diaspora in Russia, business executives and government officials to travel direct and comfortably between the two countries. The continuing expansion of direct services from Astana is part of the airline’s strategy to develop Kazakhstan as the leading transit hub for Eurasia,” said Ibrahim Canliel, SVP Sales and Marketing, Air Astana.
Orenburg becomes Air Astana’s ninth new destination to be launched over the past 30 months and the eleventh service into the Russian Federation. Air Astana already operates flights from Almaty, Astana and Atyrau to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Samara and Novosibirsk.
Air Astana commenced regular flight operations on 15th May 2002 and currently operates a network of almost 60 international and domestic routes from hubs in Almaty, Astana and Atyrau. Air Astana flies an all western fleet comprising of two Boeing 767s, five Boeing 757s, eleven Airbus A320s family, and seven Embraer E-190s. In 2012, Air Astana became the first carrier from Russia/the CIS /Eastern Europe to be awarded the prestigious 4-Star rating in the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2012 and was also named The Best Airline in Central and South Asia.
Air Astana is a full member of the International Air Transport Association and was the first airline in Kazakhstan to achieve EU EASA Part 145 aircraft maintenance certification.
