On April 8, the meeting of the World Economic Forum “Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the South Caucasus and Central Asia” has kicked off in Baku this morning.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab and foreign government delegations are in attendance.

Kazakhstan’s delegation at the event is headed by First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

The forum is expected to focus on the problems related to industrial sector, mineral wealth, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, finance, telecommunications, and so on.

For regional and global players the World Economic Forum hosted by Baku is an important platform where they can lay the foundations for the development of the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

On April 9 First Vice Minister of regional Development of Kazakhstan Kairbek Uskenbayev announced at the meeting of Government   that Kazakhstan has 222.24 million hectares of agricultural land.

In his words, crop lands cover the area of 29.41 million hectares, perennial plantations – 0.12 million hectares, hayfields – 5.16 million hectares and pasture lands – 187.55 million hectares.

“Kazakhstan has developed a comprehensive concept of business regulation by 2020,”  First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Sagintayev announced in his speech at the meeting of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev with entrepreneurs, held in Akorda

“The basic principle of the Concept will be to balance the interests of government, business and consumers. Regulatory activities of the state will be built on a common logic. Regulation must be effective and the most inexpensive, both for business and for the state, ” B.Sagintaev said.

On Wednesday April 10, First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Sagintayev announced Kazakhstan has developed a comprehensive concept of business regulation by 2020, during his speech at the meeting of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev with entrepreneurs, held in Akorda

On April 11, Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov held a telephone conference on the issues of realization of the President’s instructions given at the meeting of the Entrepreneurs’ Council on April 10, 2013.

According to First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development Bakytzhan Sagintayev, all the instructions are divided in three blocks: strategic tasks, new strategic directions, institutional measures on entrepreneurship development.

The Government and “Atameken” Union were urged to adopt a joint action plan on promotion and protection of Kazakh producers’ interests within the framework of the Single Economic Space and WTO.

“The Head of State stressed that Kazakhstan’s business is entering a new stage increasing the responsibility of entrepreneurs for the stable growth of the economy. In this regard, the President decided to transform the Entrepreneurs’ Council to the Board of National Investors,” Serik Akhmetov emphasized.

He noted that all government support measures developed in previous years would be further continued and improved.

In addition, the Prime Minister urged to expedite the introduction of the draft law on the National Chamber to the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament.

He instructed all relevant state agencies to immediately proceed to the execution of the President’s tasks.

“The future of the domestic business depends on the results of implementation of the President’s instructions,” the Head of the Cabinet concluded.

In addition, the same day  Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov has received Federal Councilor and Minister of Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Johann Schneider-Ammann.

The meeting discussed the development of economic and trade ties and strengthening cooperation in realization of industrial and innovative program, in particular, increased cooperation in investment, bringing advanced technology to the Swiss agricultural sector, mechanical and plant engineering, healthcare, tourism industry.

Besides, Chairman of the Committee for control in the field of education and science of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Serik Irsaliyev said this year, Kazakhstan will conduct pilot two-stage Unified National Testing (UNT).

On Friday April 12, the conference called “Creating a green economy in Kazakhstan” held in “Radisson” hotel where Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov said “EXPO-2017” will make Astana a demonstration platform for third industrial revolution achievements.

“Kazakhstan is planning to host an international exhibition EXPO in Astana in 2017 titled “Energy for the future.” It will address issues regarding energy consumption in the world. We hope that it will help the international community to find solutions to energy problems. EXPO 2017 will create an unprecedented opportunity for our city to become a leader in this important area. We want Astana to be known not only as the geographic center of the Eurasian continent, but as a regional center of technological, scientific and cultural exchange between Asia and Europe ,” said N.Kapparov.
