Kazakh Denis Kuzin the world champion at 1000 meters' distanceA Kazakhstani Denis Kuzin has become the world champion in speed skating at the individual distances, which is held in the Russian city of Sochi. It has been reported  by Vesti.kz.

Kuzin, who ran the 1000-meter distance in the ninth pair, showed the result of 1 minute 9.14 seconds. The second place belongs to the South Korean Thai Bum Mo, and the bronze has been won by the American Shani Davis.

Kuzin has become the first Kazakh athlete who managed to win the World Cup. The only time among the top three winners was Lyudmila Prokasheva, who became the third at a distance of 3000 meters in 1996.

Let us remind that at the 1500 meters Kuzin took the 18th place, and Dmitry Babenko was the 21st.
