Mar 12. Tengrinews
Kazakhstan skier Alexey Poltoranin retains his fourth line in the overall ranking of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup, Vesti.kz reports.
The Kazakhstan skier won silver in the men’s 15-kilometer classical race in the 13th Cross Country Skiing World Cup stage in Lahti, Finland and stretched his lead over his nearest rival Russia’s Maxim Vylegzhanin. Poltoranin now has 871 points whereas the Russian skier has 779 points.
But the gap between Poltoranin, the leader of the Kazakhstan team, and Petter Northug of Norway who is ranked third overall became larger because the Norway’s skier won the 15-kilometer race in Lahti.
The skiers will be taking part in six more races during four World Cup stages before the end of the current season. The next stage will be held on March 13 in Norway. It will be an individual sprint even and Poltoranin traditionally skis well well in this kind of events.
