“Kazakhstan – US Investment Forum 2009”: discovering opportunities
September 2. KAZINFORM. WASHINGTON
The Embassy of Kazakhstan is proud to announce the “Kazakhstan – US Investment Forum 2009”, the second annual investment conference on Kazakhstan to be held in New York City on November 23-24, 2009, at a prestigious venue and historical landmark – New York’s Harvard Club. The Forum is organized by the Government of Kazakhstan in partnership with Newsdesk Media, Inc.
The goal of the Forum is to establish an official annual event in the United States for consultations between Kazakh and US public and private sectors on the ways of expanding investment ties between the two countries. The idea is based on the remarkable dynamics of economic, trade and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and the US, which is one of the key pillars of the two countries’ strategic partnership.
Key topics on the Forum’s agenda include analysis of investment and trade opportunities for US businesses in Kazakhstan; a review of the investment capacity of Kazakhstan’s banking and financial sectors; innovations in Kazakhstan’s tax and subsoil legislation; economic diversification projects open for foreign participation; the influence of Kazakh-US political relations on the overall business climate between the two countries; ways of expanding comprehensive energy partnerships, including the oil and gas industry and renewables; cooperation with major international organizations on the implementation of infrastructural programs in Kazakhstan; and Kazakhstan’s strategic importance as an international logistical hub.
Fully supported by the Government of Kazakhstan, the Forum will provide an excellent opportunity to take part in direct discussions with high level government ministers and officials and senior public and private sector business participants from Kazakhstan.
The 2009 Forum will continue the tradition of a teleconference address from Astana by H.E. Karim Massimov, the Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan, followed by a Q&A session.
In addition to the Prime-Minister’s teleconference address, a high level delegation from Kazakhstan led by H.E. Erbol Orynbayev, Deputy Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan, will participate in the Forum. The representative delegation from Kazakhstan is expected to include heads and senior representatives of the Government’s key economic agencies (Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, National Bank of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Finance etc.), and top managers of Kazakh national companies (such as “Samruk-Kazyna” Fund, “KazMunaiGas”, “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”, “KazAtomProm”), major Kazakh banks, trade and industry associations and companies actively engaged in business with the US.
United States’ attendees are expected to include high-level government officials, senior management of major US corporations doing business in Kazakhstan, independent analysts, experts from leading think tanks and senior officials from international financial and economic institutions.
The organizers welcome interest in the Forum from US official representatives, current and potential industrial and financial investors, scientific research groups, banks, small- and medium-sized businesses, and the media and leisure industries – and are open to discussing mutually beneficial ways of participating in this important event, Kazinform cites the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in the USA.
