Fixed capital investment in Kazakhstan grows 7% in Jan-July

Fixed capital investment in Kazakhstan grew 7%  to  2.204  trillion  tenge in January-July 2009 compared to the same period of 2008, the State Statistics Agency said in a statement.

The  growth  was  mainly  the  result  of  120% increase in foreign investment.

Investment  declined  10.3%  in  July 2009 compared to the previous month.

The  most  attractive  sectors  for  investment  in the period were mining,  which accounted for 30.9% of investment, and transportation and communications, which accounted for 26.5%.

The official exchange rate on August 17 was 150.79 tenge/$1.
