Peace on Earth for all of us!Yesterday Astana was hosting an international research-to-practice conference “Towards world peace through spiritual culture,” dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the 1st World Congress of Spiritual Concord.

The forum, held at the Independence Palace, rallied together clerisy, literati and clergy, from more than twenty countries, foreign ambassadors accredited in Astana, MPs, Kazakhstan artists.

Twenty years ago, the I World Congress of Spiritual Concord (WCSC) took place in Almaty, on whose initiative October 18 was made the Day of Spiritual Harmony in Kazakhstan, said president of Kazakhstan Association of “Peace through Culture”, member of the Senate Tolegen Mukhamedzhanov. He also referred to another notable date- the world forum of spiritual culture, when the capital of Kazakhstan met with more than 500 delegates from 72 countries.

The main presentation at the conference “Towards world peace through spiritual culture,” was made by co-chair of the World Forum of Spiritual Culture – national artist of Russia Joseph Kobzon.

– Astana is a spiritual capital of peace and harmony, and it’s not accidental that we meet here again – Kobzon said. At the WCSC in 1992 for the first time with absolute clarity the root cause was formulated of devastating global crises: spiritual and moral crisis.

The initiatives and ideas of spiritual harmony in Kazakhstan were picked up by India that, in 1993 in Rishikesh held second session of the WCSC. In February 2003 Moscow held the third session of the Congress. It was offered then to establish the World Spiritual Forum as a permanent body. Like 20 years ago, today the spiritual unity of people of different cultures and religions is a strategic factor for stability and sustainable development.

The world is tired of war, violence, discord, hostility, injustice and mistrust. The new wave of the global financial and economic crisis brings up new challenges to many nations. They all require proportionate response. Now that the threat of a new confrontation is increasing, peace and spiritual harmony of peoples is of particular relevance. Some world powers are in favor of changing global rules of the game, for joint development of a new, mutually beneficial mechanism for political and economic governance, others, however are for resolution of the crisis through a new global armed conflict. Evidences to it are in aplenty.

The world community is deeply concerned over a series of regional armed conflicts, which reminds of the developments on the eve of the First and Second World Wars. We can observe a crisis of international law, when disputes are increasingly resolved by force. That downgrades the prestige of world’s leading organizations, including the United Nations, whose members are increasingly unable to come to terms and nip the conflicts in the bud by diplomatic means.

– We all have shared values – family, children, home, friendship, happiness, safety, health, welfare, justice, – continued Kobzon. – Love, justice, beauty unite us all regardless of race, nation, religion, social standing. All people on earth are willing to live in peace. However, peace in the world is more than world without war. The world free of violence and fear- that’s what real peace is.

J.Kobzon referred to the text of the song “Let there always be sunshine,” as children’s appeal to us, adults to give them a peaceful childhood.

A new global spiritual movement is taking on shape, based on three principles: the strength of unity in diversity, precedence of the common interests to personal and spiritual culture as main focus in general education.

Head of the Secretariat of Kazakhstan People’s Assembly Eraly Tugzhanov said since the time of the first world spiritual congress Kazakhstan has become synonymous to “peace loving “, “confidence”, “tolerance” and “mutual respect.” He quoted Nursultan Nazarbayev saying that “To us tolerance is not only the norm of political culture, but also a key principle of the state, which we maintain and strengthen in every way.”

Kazakhstan People’s Assembly, which is an institute of interethnic peace and concord in a multiethnic society, has always supported all the initiatives and ideas peace and understanding between peoples, the language diversity in our country, of which we are proud.

– Intolerance, radicalism, terrorism have become pandemic of late. Radicals of all hues are looking to use cultural and religious differences as a guise to achieve political ends. Our current forum is intended to give a powerful impetus to development of global experience of spiritual harmony, culture and morals of a person”, – concluded E. Tugzhanov.

The Culture and Information Minister Darkhan Mynbay reminded that in 2012 Astana was proclaimed the cultural capital of CIS and Turkic world. Culture is one of the most important means of public diplomacy.

Other speakers at the forum -Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to UNESCO Olzhas Suleimenov, Polad Bul-Bul ogly and others supported the ideas.

In the panels the general education the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Mohammad Taskhiri; president of Global Security Institute Jonathan Granoff; President of the Israel Association of Writers, ex-president of the organization and Nobel Peace Prize holder in “Physicians against Nuclear War” Ernesto Kahan; a well-known Islamic scholar Valeria Porohova; founder and director of Intersections International Robert Chase, Chairman of the Agency for Religious Affairs Kairat Lama Sharif and many others took part.

At the final plenary meeting a draft resolution was read to the research-to-practice conference by one of its authors – Vice President of the Russian School of Private Law under the President of Russia, member of the Presidium of the World Forum of Spiritual Culture Yuri Ageshin.

The conference made a number of recommendations to the Presidium of the World Forum of Spiritual Culture, such as formation of an international working group to prepare a peace Pact; establishing a network of regional headquarters, attracting prominent people as potential partners and future participants of the forum, quest of investors, use of online resources and others.

Full text of the adopted resolution will be placed on-line. Thus, the preparations for the II World Forum of Spiritual Culture, which will be held in Astana in 2013, started immediately after the conference.
