Kazakh Minister of Economic Integration meets with UN representatives

Kazakh Minister of Economic Integration Janar Aytjanova and chairman of the ministry’s committee on trade Aydar Kazibayev held a number of bilateral meetings with the ambassadors and permanent representatives of Finland, Norway, Mauritius and Uruguay to the United Nations in order to promote the application of Astana to host the international specialised exhibition EXPO-2017 in Geneva, the press service of Kazakh Minister of Economic Integration reported.
During these bilateral meetings the representatives of foreign states noted the importance of the selected theme ‘Energy for future’.
“Today the world need’s new ecologically safe development ways. Kazakhstan is currently directed towards a ‘Green economy’. We believe that the discussion on future energy is one of the most universal discussions of our time. This is why this topic of concern has been chosen for the EXPO-2017 exhibition,” Janar Aytjanova noted in her speech.
According to the ambassador and permanent representative of Uruguay to UN, coordinator of Latin America countries Laura Dupuy Lasserre, Uruguay supposes that political stability and quick rates of economic growth in Kazakhstan will enable holding the of EXPO-2016.
In addition, Mrs Lasserre noted that the EXPO-2017 theme ‘Energy of the Future’ is especially relevant for Uruguay, considering that 50 per cent of electricity in the country is produced through alternative energy resources.
During the meeting Finnish Ambassador Paivi Kairamo-Hella showed great interest in the transfer to mixed energy for provision of the planet’s stable development. “In this regard, Energy of the Future is important and actual as never before,” she noted.
The presentation of the EXPO-2017 event for the heads of the diplomatic corps accredited to Geneva, took place at UN headquarters on October 10 2012.
Voting for holding the event will be held on November 22, 2012 in Paris, during the 152nd session of the General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau.
