Almaty hosts VIII Eurasia International Film Festival


Almaty hosts VIII Eurasia International Film FestivalThe VIII International  Film Festival Eurasia opening ceremony was held in Almaty. Countries of  Central Asia, CIS, the European Union and Asia were invited to participate in the Eurasia Film Festival this year.

The festival is attended by Hollywood celebrities such as Dennis Haysbert, Wolfgang Petersen, Vincent  Perez, and Russian cinema stars Nonna Grishayeva, Fedor Bondarchuk, Alice Grebenschikova,  Darya Poverennova, Yegor  Pazenko and others.

Kazakh film director Amir Kararkulov had the honor to open the festival with the first show of “Virtual Love” film.

As a result of the high level programs, and also the international standards of the competitive film festivals, together with the international jury, prestigious juries representing FIPRESCI and NETPAC film critics will also work at Eurasia.

Eurasia is the unique Kazakhstan’s Film Festival which works according to the FIAPF regulations (The International Federation of Film Producers Associations).

In 2012 the annual information collection «International Film Guide» published in Great Britain, included IFF Eurasia into the list of 35 leading world film festivals.

Kazakhstan, Russia sign memorandum in film industry


A memorandum was signed by president of VIII Eurasia International Film Festival Yermek Amanshayev and executive director of Russia’s Cinema Fund Sergey Tolstikov on Tuesday in Almaty.

“We have a specific number of tasks that need to be solved on a joint basis. I believe that signing of this memorandum will symbolize the beginning of our new cooperation,” S. Tolstikov said.

Based on the new memorandum, Kazakhstani and Russian directors will have an opportunity to show their films to more viewers. The document will broaden the horizons of the Russian film industry for Kazakhstani directors and intensify Kazakh-Russian interaction in this field.
