Astana to host meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of CICA

IV Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held on September 12 in Astana, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Ilyas Omarov told Trend on Monday.
“This meeting coincides with the 20th anniversary of the convening of the meeting,” he said.
Omarov noted that, Kazakhstan’s ambassador in Cairo, Berik Aryn and Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Turkey Asit Kaya met with Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Nabil Al-Arabi.
“During the meeting the diplomats handed the the official invitation of the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Turkey Yerzhan Kazykhanov and Ahmet Davutoglu to the head of the Arab League to take part in the 4th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of CICA,” he said.
Omarov said Nabil al-Arabi confirmed the interest of the organization in further deepening of relations with the countries of Central Asia, including Kazakhstan.
LAS is involved in the CICA as an observer. In turn, Kazakhstan is an observer in LAS.
