August 1. KAZINFORM. ASTANA

Kazakhstani oil refineries processed over 7 mln tons of oil in H1 2012A program of oil and gas sector development for 2010-2014 aimed to ensure an increase of the international transit and meet the domestic demand for oil products is implemented in Kazakhstan within the State Industrialization Program, Kazinform refers to pm.kz.

As the Ministry of Oil and Gas reports, Kazakhstani oil refinery companies extracted 39.7 mln tons of oil including gas condensate over the first half of this year. In accordance with the preliminary estimates, the export of oil made 33.96 mln tons. Thereat, the plan for 2012 makes 71 mln tons.

Besides, the Ministry of Oil and Gas considered over 100 design projects on development, exploration of oil and gas deposits and clarified engineering parameters of field development including volumes of oil extraction at over 30 deposits over the reporting period.

It is worth noting that domestic oil refineries reprocessed 7186 thousand tons of oil. This is 10.9% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Thus, 1484 thousand tons of gasoline, 2095 thousand tons of diesel fuel, 1773 thousand tons of fuel oil, 195 thousand tons of aviation kerosene was produced.

In accordance with the Industrialization Program, by 2014, the volume of oil processing at Kazakhstani oil refineries will reach 15 million tons followed by 84-90% increase of the oil refining efficiency and development of the quality of domestic oil products to Euro quality standards, the press service of the Ministry informs.

Presently, three oil refining plants function in the country. These are the Atyrau Oil Refinery, Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant and the Shymkent Oil Refinery Plant.

On the instruction of the President given in his Address to the Nation, implementation of three projects on increase of the oil refining efficiency, processing of heavy oil residues into high quality motor-fuel was started.

The first project aims at establishment of a deep conversion plant at the Atyrau Oil Refinery, the second one is to drive the Atyrau Gas-Chemical Plant up to the rated capacity output. The third project provides for construction of a gas processing plant near Karachaganak oil field.

As the Ministry informs, preparation of the construction site of the deep conversion plant is presently underway at the Atyrau Refinery. Assembly works will begin in March 2013. The plant will be put into service as early as 2015.

78% of the main refinery processing units and on-site utilities of the Atyrau Gas-Chemical Plant, were designed during the first phase of construction. The first phase of construction of the biggest gas processing plant at Karachaganak deposit is scheduled for 2014-2017.

Implementation of these projects will allow to increase the oil conversion ratio, process heavy oil residues into high quality motor-fuel and produce petrochemical products for export.
