National Atomic Company Kazatomprom (Kazakhstan) announces Y2012 Q2 operating results

JSC “NAC “Kazatomprom” in the second quarter 2012 completed its production program and reached the set level of production indicators.
Based on results of the 2nd quarter 2012 the volume of uranium production at enterprises of JSC “NAC “Kazatomprom” made up 5,040 tons, which is 9 % higher than in the 1st quarter 2012.
JSC “NAC “Kazatomprom”, taking into account stakes in subsidiaries and affiliates, for the second quarter 2012 produced 2,896 tons of uranium, which is by 9% higher than the figure from the first 3 months of 2012.
General production indicators across JSC “Ulba Metallurgy Plant” correspond with the planned figures. In accordance with the 1st quarter of this year, there is a decrease in the production of beryllium by 23 %, an increase in tantalum production – 2.2 times.
LLP “MAEC-Kazatomprom” for consumers in the city of Aktau and Mangistau region produced during the 2nd quarter 2012 1,015.8 m KWt/hour of electric energy, 575 thousand GKal of heat energy. These indicators fully cover the Company’s planned indicators.
In accordance with the development program of JSC “NAC “Kazatomprom” in the 2nd quarter work continued along the Company’s strategic lines, including conversion, enrichment and production of nuclear fuel.
