A Concert Hall “Tіlep kobyz Saraiy”, opened on Astana’s left bank is designed to promote Kazakh folk music and its presentation is timed to the Day of Astana.
Boundless Steppe holds many secrets and myths, legends and traditions telling that an ancient instrument kobyz is associated with the name of Korkyt – akyn (poet and musician), and story-teller. The Kazakhs, paying tribute to Korkyt as a founder of kobyz playing and the first performer of kyuis, call him “kui Atasy” – Father of kyuis.
Construction of the concert hall was started in 2006. The auditorium, designed for 340 seats, is shaped as a yurt with national interior decorations. Acoustic system was developed and designed by Japanese experts and allows not to use a microphone. The first concert in “Tіlep kobyz Saraiy” palace is scheduled for September.
