Car sales grow 40% in Kazakhstan

Three of the bestselling car brands have not changed since the beginning of the year. However, the most successful Lada cars significantly increased its lead over rivals in May. 2,718 Lada cars were sold in Kazakhstan in the reporting month. Thus, Lada’s year-on-year sales increased 3.1 times and this brand has a threefold lead over its competition.
Sales of passenger cars reached 7,372 units in May, 5% greater than April results and 141% higher than last year, according to CA-NEWS citing the review by a consulting company. Sales of passenger cars increased 2.5 times and reached 27,612 units over the first five months of the year. Such car brands as Lada, Hyundai, Toyota, and KIA were the main drivers of growth in May. Hyundai, the second most popular brand in Kazakhstan, has completed the month with a score of 797 passenger cars sold, 4.7 times greater than last year’s result. Toyota sales are characterized by a more moderate dynamic this year. The increase was 63% compared to May 2011. Nissan improved its position in the reporting month, whose sales rose 84% reaching 301 units. This is followed by ZAZ cars assembled jointly by Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Mitsubishi accounts for 219 cars sold. SsangYong was the last brand in the Top 10 cars of Kazakhstan’s market in May. 170 SUVs assembled in Kostanai were sold on the monthly results.
