Yesterday, Mukhtar Kul-Muhammed, the State Secretary chaired a meeting on further development of sport and physical culture, attended by Baglan Mailybayev, deputy head of RK President’s Administration and Talgat Ermegiyayev, chairman of the Agency for physical culture and sports.

A month is left before XXX Olympic Games in London and it is very important to prepare for the main sport event.

We have sufficient conditions for national sport development: state-of-the-art sports facilities, constructed in Astana, Almaty and other Kazakhstan cities. In 2011 in Karaganda an Ice Palace, boxing and tennis centers, meeting international standards were opened. Sports complexes, stadiums, sports and recreation facilities are being constructed in the country. Funding for sports and physical culture is increasing each year, said the State Secretary.

Sport achievements are of special importance: national teams in various sports, particularly Olympic athletes, have all necessary conditions for training. Therefore, our expectations are big: the country hopes that our athletes will take a number of gold medals in the London Games. It is also important to develop grassroots sports, accessibility and affordability of sport facilities.

T. Ermegiyayev made a readiness report on the national Olympic team for the upcoming Olympics. According to him, licensing competitions are under completion and Kazakhstan athletes won 107 licenses in 25 sports.

Each athlete has a leading coach, experts from federations, National Olympic Committee and sports community.

Modern medical-diagnostic equipment for Republican anti-doping lab was purchased, more than 6 thousand analyzes and tests were taken, and from now on all the athletes, who have received licenses, undergo regular anti-doping tests.

Besides, to motivate coaches of the national teams, wages to them were increased on average by 500-2000 USD.

Athletes, qualified for winning places (from 1st to 6th) receive USD 1 000 – 5 000 monthly under the contract terms. In comparison with the Beijing Olympics the number of qualified athletes has doubled in seven kinds of sports.

According to the head of the sport Agency, increase of life-time material support to winners of Olympic, Paralympic Games and world championships in various sports and their coaches from 45 to 92 MCI instead of current 24 MCI is under consideration.

It is not a secret that an athlete, who devoted his life to sport, becomes absolutely disable after completing his professional career and taking into account the contributions made the Agency offers to provide the athletes with decent post-sport life. In addition, T. Ermegiyaev considers it necessary to allocate accommodations to Olympic champions and winners for their further motivation.

He also focused on strengthening patriotic education among the national teams, development of mass sports, efficient use of sport facilities, and issues on establishment of sport Research Institute.

Formation of Olympic reserve, expansion and reconstruction of national sports infrastructure, interaction and cooperation with non-governmental sport organizations and movements were among the topics discussed.

B. Mailybayev wished the athletes good luck and victory.

The State Secretary emphasized that Kazakhstan, which has trained more than 200 champions and medal winners of Olympic Games, World Championships, Asian Games, expects best results and outstanding achievements from its athletes, enhancing prestige of the sovereign republic.
