Kazakhstan: Euro 2 standards introduced

The implementation of Euro 2 regulations for all vehicles produced or imported in Kazakhstan commenced on 15 July. Fuel sellers must begin applying the standard no later than 1 January 2010.
Due to the implementation of Euro 2 standards, the import in Kazakhstan of European cars made before 1997 has been banned.
According to the technical rules adopted by the Kazakh government on 29 December 2007, the Euro 3 standard will come into force as of 1 January 2011 and Euro 4 will become effective on 1 January 2014.
