Kazakh team won three silver and two bronze medals in 50th IMO, Germany


Kazakh national team won three silver and two bronze medals in the 50th International Mathematical Olympiad held in Bremen, Germany and joined 30 best teams of the world.

As the press service of Daryn Republican Scientific-Practical Centre informs, the contest brought together school students from 108 countries. Yegor Klochkov (Pavlodar), Nursultan Khadzhimuratov and Kanat Satylkhanov (Aktobe) were awarded with silver medals. Birzhan Muldagaliyev and Tolebi Sailauov (Almaty) won bronze medals.

The Olympiad was held during the period July 10-20, 2009. The first IMO was organized in 1959 in Romania. Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic and the USSR were invited to take part in the competition. In the following years the number of participating countries increased.

The 51st IMO will be held for the first time in Kazakhstan in 2010.
