As of December 1, wheat carry-over stocks in Kazakhstan totaled nearly 22 mln tonnes, barley – 1.5 mln tonnes

According to data of the Agency of Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of December 1, 2011, the carry-over stocks of grains and leguminous crops in Kazakhstan totaled 24.06 mln tonnes, and declined by 938.59 thsd tonnes, or 3.8%, compared to November 1, 2011.
As a reminder, as of November 1, 2011, the carry-over stocks in Kazakhstan totaled 24.9 mln tonnes, and increased by 58%. During August period, by September 1, the carry-over stocks increased and totaled 3.809 mln tonnes, up 27.9% compared to the previous month. And during September the carry-over stocks in Kazakhstan increased in 4.14 times, and totaled 15.76 mln tonnes.
As of December 1, milling grains formed the major share of grain carry-over stocks, as in previous periods – 20.457 mln tonnes, or 85% of the general reserves, including 19.549 mln tonnes – milling wheat (81.2%). As of December 1, wheat carry-over stocks in the grain balance totaled 21.807 mln tonnes, or 90.6% of the general grain reserves.
Barley carry-over stocks in the grain balance totaled 1.504 mln tonnes, including 763.261 thsd tonnes of feed barley.
Further, the carry-over volumes rice and oats formed the remaining grain reserves in the country.
Most grains were concentrated in grain-collecting complexes and elevators – 9.796 mln tonnes (9.354 mln tonnes last month), agricultural enterprises – 9.269 mln tonnes (10.1 mln tonnes). Milling enterprises stocked 1.151 mln tonnes (1.026 mln tonnes) and the population (farming enterprises) – 3.843 mln tonnes (4.517 mln tonnes).
