Kazakhstan thrashed Thailand in their Asia-Oceania Group I second-round Davis Cup tie in Nonthaburi, winning the reverse singles on Sunday to secure a 5-0 victory.

The win means Kazakhstan have secured their place in Group I, after Andrey Golubev and Alexey Kedryuk both won in straight sets.

Golubev topped off a weekend of success with his 6-1, 6-4 victory over Kittiphong Wachiramanowong in the reverse singles, following his straight-set win over Perakiat Siriluethaiwattana on Friday.

Kedryuk similarly had earlier success Saturday in the doubles match, which he followed with a 7-6 (8/6), 7-6 (8/6) win over Perakiat on Sunday.

“The Thai players got a lot of experience from the matches, because they rank quite low in comparision with Kazakhstan’s players,” said Thai Davis Cup team captain Thanakorn Srichaphan.
