The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan predicts that more a thousand international observes to monitor the Majilis (lower chamber of parliament) election in the country.
“The interest to the election in Kazakhstan is not diminishing. 1,200 international observers were present at the 2007 election, 1,100 at the presidential election in April 2011. We expect in any case more than a thousand observers at this election,” the CEC Chairman Kuandyk Turgankulov said on the Khabar state TV channel on Wednesday.
The extraordinary election of Majilis deputies elected through party lists is scheduled for January 15, 2012, of those elected by the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan for January 16 next year.
