Kazakhstan's population amounted to 16.6 million people - Statistics AgencyThe population of Kazakhstan has amounted to more than 16.6 million people as of December 1, 2011 and in comparison with January 1, 2011, increased by 1.1 percent.

Chairman of the Kazakh Agency of Statistics Alikhan Smailov has announced at a briefing.

According to him, the number of births for nine months made 280,460 people, and the number of deaths – 109,785 people.

“There is positive dynamics of natural population increase,” A.Smailov noted.

However, the highest growth rates of people’s real incomes are common for the Akmola and Kyzylorda regions. According to preliminary data, per capita nominal population income totaled 46, 057 tenge in September with a 15.2 percent increase against the corresponding period in 2010. Real cash incomes grew by 5.9%, the Statistics Agency reports. As always, the leading position on the amount of per capita income belongs to the Atyrau region, Almaty and the Mangistau province, where this figure beat the country average twice. South Kazakhstan, Almaty, and Zhambyl regions are among the most low-income regions.
