Safe traffic artery - key priority of transport policy of Asia and Europe, Kazakh President“Safe transport corridor is the key priority of transport policy of the Asian and European countries,” the welcome speech of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the participants of the VIII international conference “TransEurasia 2011” reads. Deputy Prime Minister – Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev delivered the address.

“The conference on the eve of the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence is symbolic for the Great Silk Road has run since the old times through Kazakhstan bridging the West and the East. That historic trunk line has been dynamically developing up to date uniting the nations and people,” the address reads.

“The topical subject of the conference is stipulated by the need to speed up international trade and economic cooperation in Eurasia,” the message reads.

KZT 1.4 trln allocated in development of transport and communications complex over last decade – Kamaliyev

The share of transport sector in the country’s GDP in recent years made on average nine percent.

Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications Berik Kamalliyev has made it public at the VIII international conference “TransEurasia 2011”.

According to him, over the last decade KZT 1.4 trln was allocated in development of the transport and communications complex. Loans from international financial institutions in the amount of USD 4.2 bln were attracted into the transport sector. There was created favorable investment climate.

Over the years of independence several sectorial programs were implemented and the legal foundation of the transport field was created.

Kazakhstan to implement 60 transport infrastructure projects totaling $ 19bln

60 infrastructure projects totaling USD 19 billion are planned to be carried out under the state program of transport infrastructure development for 2010-2014. Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communication Berik Kamaliyev informed of it at the eighth international conference Transeurasia-2011 on Thursday.

According to Kamaliyev, it is planned to build about 1500 kilometers of roads, electrify 1700 kilometers of railroads, build and reconstruct about 50 thousand kilometers of highways, modernize airport infrastructure, develop national merchant marine, infrastructure of sea ports.
