Customs Union citizens can import €10,000 worth of goods by air duty-free
October 1. KAZINFORM. MOSCOW
Citizens of the Customs Union member states travelling by air are allowed to import goods to the tune of €10,000 without paying customs duties. The relevant protocol of the Customs Union Commission to approve the agreement on the export-import of personal effects by individuals crossing the customs border of the Customs Union was posted on the official website of the commission; Kazinform cites BelTA.
The protocol has to be ratified. It is temporarily used from the date of its signing, the document says.
Before that, goods with the customs value under €1,500 and weight under 50kg were allowed to be moved across the Customs Union border without customs duties. The same rule still applies to goods imported using other types of transport.
The restrictions on the import of alcohol and tobacco products by air remain unchanged: not more than three liters of alcoholic beverages and beer and not more than 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars.
