New ambassadors accredited in Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received credentials from newly appointed ambassadors of Italy, Estonia, Slovakia, and Malaysia. The President outlined the main priorities of Kazakhstan’s cooperation with these states at a meeting with the diplomats. Italian Ambassador Alberto Pieri, Estonian Ambassador Jaan Hain, Slovak diplomat Lubomir Rehak, and Malaysian Ambassador Ahmad Rasidi bin Hazizi are taking office as heads of diplomatic missions during a special period for Kazakhstan as this is the year of the 20th anniversary of the country’s independence.

«Our country is an active participant in extensive international cooperation in nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation. We maintain foreign relations with more than 180 countries worldwide. Being located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, our country can serve as a «bridge» of friendship and mutual understanding, uniting people, and civilizations».
This year, Kazakhstan chairs the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. According to Nursultan Nazarbayev, strengthening relations with the Muslim world is one of the main priorities of Kazakhstan’s multi-vector foreign policy.
According to the Malaysian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Ahmad Rasidi bin Hazizi, he will try to facilitate the acquisition of visas during his term of office. He noted that Malaysia pays special attention to attracting investments in Kazakhstan, and, apart from that, if there’s Astana-Kuala Lumpur flight, it may also contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
Kazakhstan attaches great importance to cooperation with Italy, which is one of the leading economic partners of the republic and the country’s largest investor in the EU. Both countries are developing their warm and trust-based relations under the strategic partnership agreement, said the president in a statement.
The Italian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alberto Pieri said it is a great honor for him to represent his country in Kazakhstan and noted that President Nazarbayev expressed his hope that Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s visit to Kazakhstan takes place in the near future. He also quoted Nursultan Nazarbayev that Italy is one of the major economic and investment partners to Kazakhstan and the Italian side hopes to increase Italy’s presence in Kazakhstan’s economy.
Slovakia is an important Eastern European partner of Kazakhstan, according to Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Estonia is an important political and trading partner to Kazakhstan in the Baltic Sea region. This state is known to be one of the world leaders in the development of information technology.
