2010 trade turnover between Kazakhstan and South Korea increased by 50% - NazarbayevThe trade turnover between Kazakhstan and South Korea over 2010 has increased by 50 percent and reached USD mln this year. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has announced it during a meeting with South Korea’s Lee Myung-bak.

“I would like to outline that over the past three years we made a significant breakthrough in our relations, and now they have character of strategic cooperation between our countries. Over the past three years we have met five times and solved many joint matters,” N.Nazarbayev said.

The Head of State noted that at present the volume of the South Korean investments in Kazakhstan exceeded USD 4 bln.

South Korea is among the first investors in Kazakhstan. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has announced it during a meeting with South Korea’s Lee Myung-bak.

“Today it is planned to ink a number of documents,” N.Nazarbayev said.

Following results of the meeting it is planned to sign agreements between the governments of Kazakhstan and South Korea in the field of construction and maintenance works of the Balkhash Thermal Power Plant, memorandum on financing of the second phase of construction of the gas chemical complex in Atyrau region and etc.

This year Kazakhstan plans to increase trade turnover with South Korea to USD 900 mln – Head of State

This year Kazakhstan plans to bring the level of economic cooperation and the volume of trade with South Korea to USD 900 mln. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said this at a press conference at Akorda.

The Head of State emphasized that despite the financial economic crisis, last year the volume of trade between our countries increased by 50 percent.

“This year we plan to enter the post-crisis level – about USD 900 mln,” N.Nazarbayev said.

The Kazakh President informed that more than 300 joint Kazakh-Korean companies are operating in Kazakhstan.

Within Kazakh-Korean business forum in Astana 12 agreements planned to be signed

Nazarbayev accepts Lee Myung-bak’s invitation to participate in nuclear security forum

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev accepted an invitation of his South Korean counterpart Lee Myung-bak to participate in the forum on nuclear non-proliferation in March 2012.

At a press conference in Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the results of his talks with the President of the Republic of Korea showed mutual striving for strengthening bilateral relations and moving toward a strategic partnership.
