Kazakhstan has secured over $7 billion in foreign investment - Vice-PremierAt present Kazakhstan has agreements on attracting over $7 billion in foreign investment, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New Technology Aset Issekeshev said.

“As ordered by the president, we are constantly working to improve the investment appeal of the country. A number of institutional measures have been taken.

One of the measures was the creation of the Kaznex Invest company, which is working with 10,000 foreign investors simultaneously. We have specific agreements on 200 investment projects with a total worth of $7 billion,” the minister said.

“Our studies have identified 20 countries and 140 major transnational corporations, which could become potential sources of investment. We have a clear plan for every country and every company as part of the national plan to attract investment,” Issekeshev noted.

Kazakhstan to spend 1.5 trillion tenge on industrialization projects in 2011

In the last eighteen months Kazakhstan has implemented 227 investment projects with a total worth of 914 billion tenge (current exchange rate is 146.79 /$1), Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New Technology Aset Issekeshev said.

“In the eighteen months since 2010 227 investment projects with a total value of 914 billion tenge have been implemented as part of the Industrialization Map. Around 29,000 new jobs have been created. The newly commissioned enterprises have produced over 100 billion tenge worth of products,” Issekeshev said at a government telephone conference on Monday.

In the second half of this year it is planned to launch at least 129 new projects worth 617 billion tenge creating 4,500 permanent jobs.

According to Issekeshev, the total amount of investment in Industrialization Map projects in 2011 will be 1.5 trillion tenge.
