Over 3,000 servicemen and 200 hardware pieces to take part in Constitution Day parade

More than 3,000 servicemen are due to march in the Constitution Day parade in Astana, 200 pieces of military hardware will be demonstrated, Erkebolat Ospanov, an officer in charge of the drill practice told Interfax-Kazakhstan.
“This year the parade column will be joined by a servicewomen’s company and an alpine rifles company in full gear,” Ospanov told journalists in Astana on Thursday.
“The parade will be opened by a drummers’ company and closed by the Republican Guard. The final rehearsal will be held from August 22 to 24,” he said.
According to a Defense Ministry statement released on Thursday, units of the army, navy, air defense forces, police, National Security Committee, Ministry for Emergency Situations and the Republican Guard will take part in the ceremonial march.
Kazakhstan held a large-scale military parade on Constitution Day for the first time in 2009. That year more than 2,000 troops, 120 hardware pieces and over 40 aircraft took part.
The Constitution Day is one of the most important public holidays of Kazakhstan.
The present Constitution of the country was adopted at a national referendum on August 30, 1995. It replaced the Constitution of 1993 defined as transitional.
