Kazakhstan oil junior Max Petroleum (LON:MXP) has hired Steven Martin as its new senior vice president of engineering.
The experienced oil man, Martin, has over 33 years experience in the industry most of which was spent at Texas-headquartered oil giant Anadarko Petroleum (NYSE:APC).
At Anadarko Martin held a variety of positions as he rose up through the ranks to become the multinational’s chief engineer.
Martin left Anadarko in 2007 and since then he has been engineering manager for private equity backed Legado Resources LLC, where he has focused on applying enhanced oil recovery methods to add reserves in mature oilfields.
Max Petroleum co-chairman Robert Holland said: “Bringing in an experienced manager like Steve is part of our natural progression from exploration into development of the new fields we have discovered.
“Steve brings extensive international and domestic experience in reservoir engineering as well as broad experience in economic evaluation.
“We are very pleased to have been able to attract an engineer of Steve’s calibre to join our team.”
