Kazakhstan considers Israel as important partner in Middle East: N.Nazarbayev

KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ “Kazakhstan recognizes Israel to be an important partner in the Middle East”, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said today at the enlarged meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres.

The Head of the State noted that this is the first visit of the Israeli President to our country and it confirmed the intention on establishment of further cooperation between the two states.

According to the President, the trade turnover between the countries was up to USD 2.5 bln in 2008. “I think that Kazakh-Israeli intergovernmental commission on trade cooperation must find mutually beneficial conditions for joint work”, N.Nazarbayev said. The Head of the State noted that multidimensional cooperation in the economy, politics and humanitarian field existed between Kazakhstan and Israel.

S.Peres noted that he respected N.Nazarbayev as a great leader and friend. “We discussed a range of directions for cooperation in the field of science and industry and found mutual interests in the agriculture, healthcare, breakthrough innovative projects and other directions”, the Israeli President said.  

The meeting continued behind the closed doors.

Peres points out successful experience of Kazakhstan in ensuring peace among nations and religions

ASTANA. June 30 . KAZINFORM  – Chairmanship of Kazakhstan’s Senate, Chief of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of the World and Traditional Religions Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with President of Israel Shimon Peres today in Astana.

At the meeting the parties positively stated dynamic development of the multilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Israel and spoke for consolidation of the relations between the two countries’ parliaments in various fields.

K. Tokayev told the foreign guest about the development of Kazakhstan’s parliamentarism, the structure and activity of the country’s parliament and the legislative foundation of all the reformations being carried through and the role of the Senate in this process.

The Israeli leader said he was quite content with his visit to Kazakhstan and pointed out the successful experience of the republic in ensuring international and interreligious accord in the society and strengthening of the dialogue purposed to prevention of global conflicts of cultures and religions. He also invited Kazakhstan Parliament delegates to pay an official visit to Israel.
