N. Nazarbayev proposes to develop Almaty as regional financial center
ОИК ASTANA. June 28. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to develop Almaty as a regional financial center using Islamic financing.
‘I propose to hold the international conference on Islamic banking and develop Almaty as a regional financial center using Islamic financing,’ N. Nazarbayev said at the 38th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Astana.
“OIC chairmanship is of historic meaning for Kazakhstan which marks this year the 20th anniversary of it independence,” Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said delivering an address at the 38th session of the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Council.
“Today the role of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation becomes more important for the sake of peace, cooperation and development. This organization is a unique structure acting as the Islamic world United Nations Organization and grouping 57 states of four continents. The Ummah faces serious challenges in the dramatically changing world,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
“Peace, modernization, scientific and technical development and education are essential today for the Islamic community.”
