Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan prepare a protocol on construction of TAE underwater section

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are preparing for the construction of the undersea section of fiber-optic cable line Trans-Asia-Europe (TAE).
The press service of the Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies of Azerbaijan reports that with the purpose of preparation for the construction of the Caspian underwater section of fiber-optic cable line it was signed an agreement on confidentiality with KazTransCom (Kazakhstan). Drafting of a bilateral protocol is under way.
This project will be implemented within the MCIT initiative on the construction of Trans-Eurasia Information Superhighway (TASIM).
Creation of a TASIM Project consortium to include such communication operators as Turk Telecom, Rostelecom, Kaztelecom, China Telecom and other companies is scheduled for this year.
For the first time TASIM Project was presented to the international community in 2008 at the International Telecommunications Conference, where international experts, heads of communications administrations and large telecommunications companies approved the project and adopted a declaration. The declaration allowed the project to gain political support of Turkey, the United States, Russia, Kazakhstan, India, Iran, Ukraine, Malaysia, Egypt and other countries.
Within TASIM Project which received the support of international organizations, the issue of construction of fiber-optic network via route Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan, provided earlier within Trans-Asia-Europe Project but postponed for different reasons for a long time, found its solution.
