MINEX Central Asia 2011 forum kicks off in AstanaThe second mining and exploration professional event MINEX Central Asia 2011 has started work at the Astana Radisson Hotel on Wednesday.

Speaking at the forum Head of ‘Samruk-Kazyna’ National Welfare Fund Kairat Kelimbetov said that it was necessary to renovate and modernize Kazakhstan’s mining industry, introduce new technologies and establish enterprises with high added value.

“This is the requirement of the Government, and I think we’re ready to start new productions and modernization on the basis of these principles,” K. Kelimbetov noted.

About 400 specialists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Australia, the USA, Japan, Canada and other countries take part in the event.

Government to launch new business support program Apr 15

Business support program Productivity-2020 will be launched on April 15, 2011, Vice Prime Minister-Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev has informed of it at MINEX Central Asia-2011 forum in Astana today.

“Since April 15, 2011 we will launch a new program of business support called Productivity-2020. The program provides for a new package of mechanisms aimed at maintaining business, namely, innovation grants, compensation for expenses caused by attraction of highly-qualified foreign engineers and technical experts, for purchase of licenses, technical documentation, technologies and long-term leasing of industrial equipment”, A. Issekeshev said.

According to him, KZT 20 bln will be allocated for the program’s implementation. “This program is a final one in a package of the existing programs like Business Road Map 2020, the Program of Exporters Support, the Program of Investors Attraction and the Program of Enterprises’ Recovery. In whole, the Government is ready to provide about 100 tools of business support to date”, the Vice PM concluded.



Kazakhstan to launch 200 industrial projects worth KZT 1.5 trillion in 2011

In 2011 Kazakhstan plans to launch 200 projects put on the “Industrialization Map.”

“The cost of these projects amounts to 1.5 trillion tenge, which is almost twice as much as invested last year,” said Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Industry and Trade Asset Issekeshev at the second international mining forum Minex Central Asia.

152 Industrial Map projects were put on line in 2010 with their total value reaching over 800 billion tenge.

As reported, the Industrialization Map embraces 294 investment projects totaling over 8 trillion tenge and promises 161,000 jobs.

Kazakhstan’s Industrialization Map was drafted in 2009 within the framework of the country’s development strategy for 2010-2020. The document comprises all socio-economic projects aimed at industrial and innovative development of Kazakhstan.

Extra GDP growth in CU states to hit USD 400 bln by 2015 -M. Mussatayev

By 2015 extra growth in GDP in the Customs Union’s countries will hit USD 400 bln, Kazinform quotes Under Secretary General of the EurAsEC Murat Mussatayev as saying.

“According to the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences, removal of customs barriers in mutual trade will facilitate the economic growth and additional rise in GDP will exceed USD 400 bln by 2015 or 15-20%”, Mussatayev said during the MINEX Central Asia-2011 forum in Astana today.

“By December 2010 the total foreign trade turnover had grown by 20.3% compared to June 2010. Mutual trade had risen by 13.8% over this period”, he added.

“Besides, export growth made 20.3% and import rose by 32.4% in the abovementioned period”, Mussatayev concluded.
