February 7. KAZINFORM. ASTANA
Kazakhstan has passed through the crisis better than other countries. Renowned scientist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics Abel Aganbegyan has said it at a press conference in Astana today.
“Kazakhstan experienced low paces of development in 2008 and 2009. The GDP was a little more than 1%. However, it did not face such great decline as the foreign countries did”, A. Aganbegyan noted.
According to him, many CIS countries, Baltic States and some European countries recorded negative GDP while Kazakhstan and Belarus overcame the crisis better than others.
Alongside, the scientist noted that Kazakhstan has not overcome its debt crisis yet, but the country’s internal reserves grow quickly. In 2010 they rose by 22%.
