Kazakhstan's work carried out within OSCE in 2010 gives ground for cautious optimismKazakhstan is adhered to the basic principles and values of the OSCE, its strategic vision and global priorities. It has always taken on board the interests of all OSCE participating states, striven to ensure a balance between the three dimensions of the Organization. OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakh Secretary of State – Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev has said it at the opening of the OSCE Summit in Astana today.

As he said, Kazakhstan always paid attention to the issues of interethnic and interfaith tolerance, which the country was devoted to. Our country strived to build confidence within the OSCE area. The contacts of the Corfu process enabled Kazakhstan to move the activities of the Organization forward and to build credibility.

“The work we carried out in 2010 on solution of the conflicts, despite the difficulties we have countered and the long-term character of the problems, gives us grounds for cautious optimism”, K.Saudabayev said.

 “I hope that next year a new version of the Vienna document will be approved”, the Chairperson-in-Office said.

Kazakhstan’s presidency gave new impetus for strengthening of control over armament

The presidency of Kazakhstan in the OSCE gave a new impetus for strengthening of control regime over the armament. Secretary of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Saudabayev said it at the OSCE Summit in Astana which is held in the Palace of Independence.

‘The conflict in Kyrgyzstan proved the relevance and importance of the OSCE which would monitor the situation in future as well as render all-round assistance. Our presidency gave new impetus for strengthening the control over armament. We hope that next year the modernized Vienna document of 1999 will be adopted’, K. Saudabayev said.

He also noted that Kazakhstan put a lot of efforts to strengthen cooperation in regard of countering transnational threats including those that come outside of the OSCE territory, first of all it was Afghanistan.

Kanat Saudabayev wished success to next chairing in OSCE country Lithuania

Chairperson-in-Office, Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev wished success to the next chairing in the OSCE country Lithuania.

‘Today we express our gratitude to our predecessor – Greece and proudly pass the chairmanship in the OSCE to the next presiding country Lithuania and wish it success’, Kanat Saudabayev said during the Summit in Astana.

Besides, he congratulated our brotherly country Ukraine on being elected as the OSCE presiding country in 2013.

The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also assured participants of the Summit that Kazakhstan would remain an active member of the Organization.

At the end of his speech Kanat Saudabayev addressed the heads of delegations to call them for finding compromise in regard of the most relevant issues on strengthening security in the space from Vancouver to Vladivostok. ‘It would become the first step of the realization of Kazakhstan’s initiative on forming Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian community of single and inseparable security. It would be good reflection of our hopes on better and safer world’, he added.

Kazakhstan to promote issues of relations normalization between Muslim and Western worlds as OIC Chairman – K.Saudabayev

Kazakhstan will promote the issues regarding relations normalization of the Muslim and Western worlds on the post of a chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Kazakh Secretary of State-Minster of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev has said it at a press conference within the framework of the OSCE Summit.

The Foreign Minister informed that at a bilateral meeting President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton emphasized importance of the relations normalization of the Muslim world with the Western, effective dialogue of civilizations, increase in tolerance within the framework of the Kazakh presidency in the OSCE.

“These issues to which presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and Barack Obama pay great attention were very important priorities of our chairmanship in the OSCE. Kazakhstan plans actively promote them as the OIC chairman next year”, K.Saudabayev said.
