Kazakhstan’s KazStroyService (KSS) has signed an agreement to become presenting sponsor of the World Series of Boxing. The deal, signed by Mr Sabit Zhanassov, General Director of KSS and Mr Ho Kim, Chief Executive Officer of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) after the 2010 AIBA Congress, sees KazStroyService become presenting sponsor for the first regular season of the revolutionary new team boxing tournament, which staged its first exhibition match in Almaty last week.
KazStroyService Group has differentiated itself as a technology-driven engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company with a substantial presence in Kazakhstan, India, Turkmenistan, and in the high potential markets of the Middle East. When it comes to constructing pipelines for transporting oil and gas or compressor stations, executing turnkey refineries and industrial plants, KazStroyService Group expertise compares with the best in the world.
The Group will use the presenting sponsorship of the World Series of Boxing, which is spread across three continents with twelve city-based teams, to communicate its activities to a wider audience. The signing ceremony was also attended by the President of the International Boxing Association (WSB’s majority shareholder), Dr C. K. Wu and the Chairman of the Board of KSS Group, Mr George Murray.
Mr Zhanassov explained the reasoning behind the sponsorship deal: “During the AIBA Congress in Almaty we made the decision to support this important international organization. We hope that our support will be used for the development of boxing internationally and in Kazakhstan.”
KSS Group is a major player in the engineering and construction industry, with a turnover of 1 billion US dollars. The group will be using its sponsorship of the World Series of Boxing to increase international awareness of the company. “Through our association with the WSB, we as a young construction company would like to get more publicity throughout the world in our coming events,” Zhanassov continued.
Ivan Khodabakhsh, Chief Operating Officer of the World Series of Boxing, welcomed the deal with KazStroyService. “Having been in Almaty for the last week to attend the AIBA Congress and the first WSB Exhibition Match, I have been able to witness first-hand the passion of the Kazakh people for the sport of boxing,” he said. “I am delighted that KazStroyService have made such a firm commitment to boxing at global level by taking on the role of presenting sponsor of the WSB. Their investment will further boost the promotion of the series at international level and in return bring them international recognition.”
