Speaker Elaborates on Outcomes of Visit to Armenia, Kazakhstan
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speakers Ali Larijani, who returned home this morning after a tour of Armenian and Kazakhstan, underlined that his recent visits to the two regional states were positive and constructive.
Larijani said the visits were significant since they focused on development and expansion of ties which would benefit the entire region.
He added that promotion of parliamentary relations, with special emphasis on regional issues, were also stressed during the meetings.
Iranian parliament speaker further said that he discussed regional and international issues with the officials of the two countries and examined ways of expanding cooperation with them on nuclear areas.
Larijani stressed that further proximity among regional countries would stop alien interventions.
Iran has always sought to resolve problems in the Middle East, Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Persian Gulf through a strategic approach and it has always stressed the need for designing a regional mechanism to preserve durable security in the region.
Iran has initiated massive diplomatic steps to expand its ties with neighboring and Central Asian states. President Ahmadinejad’s administration has in recent years paid special attention to Tehran’s economic, cultural and political cooperation with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
