Kazakh President’s initiative “Green bridge” highly appraised at IV OIC Conference of Environment Ministers

IV Conference of the Ministers of Environment of the Organization of Islamic Conference took place in Tunisia October 5-6. Kazakh delegation led by Vice Minister of Ecology M. Turmagambetov participated in it.
The participants of the ministerial meeting welcomed Kazakhstan’s efforts on implementation of green technologies and sustainable development taking into consideration the country’s status as a large Muslim country with advanced level of industrial development. In this view, Kazakhstan’s project “Green bridge” initiated by President N. Nazarbayev and approved by the participants of the VI Conference of the Ministers of Environment and Development of the Asian-Pacific region last month was highly assessed by the conference participants.
M. Turmagambetov made a report at the conference. He also met with President of Tunisia Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of this country Nadir Hamada as well as with the leaders of other foreign delegations. At these meetings he informed the foreign sides of Kazakhstan’s initiative on joining the efforts of Europe and Asian-Pacific regions in ensuring ecological sustainability within “Green bridge” and the activity of Kazakhstan on preservation and recovery of its natural eco-systems under 2010-2014 “Zhasyl Damu” program.
