While shadows for the embattled bank BTA back in Kazakhstan seem to keep growing longer, its former major shareholder and president Mukhtar Ablyazov remains entrenched in London’s plush ambiance and with a pretty good change to have to exchange it for a brick ambiance soon if the UK court of law stops dragging its feet on a verdict which is already a fortnight overdue.
The Japanese-Kazakh relations in the economic sphere are rapidly developing in recent years. Kazakhstan ranks first among the countries of Central Asia in the volume of trade and the amount of the Japanese investments, that gives reason to confirm Kazakhstan is a very important partner of Japan in this region, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Kōichirō Gemba has told in an interview with Kazinform.

Kazakhstan-based copper miner Kazakhmys met all of its major production targets in 2011, and expects to maintain similar levels of copper output in 2012.
Following the results of the elections to the Majilis, a multi-party Parliament was formed in Kazakhstan. As President Nursultan Nazarbayev outlined in his speeches, it became an important step toward modernization of the political system of Kazakhstan.
